Good Night (from Universe – 2017)

Good Night’s gentle, electronic piano-infused balladry is what special winter albums are meant for. As its title suggests, this plays as a smooth r&b lullaby. So, saying that it might put you to sleep isn’t necessarily a criticism. As usual with tracks of this style, the song allows EXO’s vocalists to shine. Their interplay is consistently engaging, drawing upon the group’s variety of timbres and performance styles. In this case, I’m not sure that the sum is greater than the parts, but I do appreciate how disarmingly retro Good Night sounds.
