K-Pop A-Z Review: f(x) – Love

One song. Every day. Alphabetical order.

Keep up with f(x)’s A-Z reviews here!

Love (from Pinocchio / Hot Summer – 2011)

As far as I know, Love is the only instance where production team Sweetune has worked with SM Entertainment. That’s kind of surprising when you think about it, but just shows how much of a force Sweetune were in 2011. I only wish the collaboration had resulted in a promoted single. As is, Love feels like both mid-tier Sweetune and mid-tier f(x). It’s glorious to hear the girls’ vocals through that trademark layering, and the track has a nice funky bite to it. But, this is no Step or Wild. Still, its sheer novelty makes Love something of a standout. And although the chorus lacks a bit in catchiness, the arrangement is predictably great.
