Boom Bang Boom (from Red Light – 2014)
A sparse, mostly percussive dance track, Boom Bang Boom lives up to f(x)’s idiosyncratic reputation. It’s a song that thrives on competing textures, from the grimy verses to the skeletal beat drop that blossoms into a more robust melodic hook. There’s so much happening in this song. It barrels through distinct segments every few seconds, pulled together by the group’s attitude-infused performance. The titular hook hits like a sledgehammer, bookended by taunting chants and the occasional ode to aegyo. It’s not a song for every moment, but if you’re in the mood for some bonkers pop, this is for you.

~ Rest in peace, Sulli. We will forever be grateful for the incredible music and spirit you left behind ~
It’s incredible how well those guitar parts complement the song’s aggresive, 8-bit-ish electronic sound.
The Spit It Out – Boom Bang Boom – Dracula combo feels like a descent into pop madness.

Its more intellectually interesting than musically interesting. I hear it more as an experimental … hah, yeah, how often are we going to write that phrase “experimental” when half of the f(x) discography is experimental. lol, let this be marked as the first time I use “experimental” in this series. It will be like the Bingo card in which the O column gets called out yet again. There are about 100 songs on the list, or thereabouts, so I will guess 33 uses of the word “experimental.
There, that is what I have too say about this one.
