Because (Sungkyu solo) (from Over The Top / Paradise – 2011)

Before he released his first (excellent) solo material, Sungkyu took the reigns of Because from Infinite’s first full album. The song opens in theatrical fashion, as a militaristic drum line supports his tentative verses. The chorus is pretty standard for 2011-era Infinite, awash with a dense blend of synths. But Sungkyu’s unique vocalization and indie style begins to peek through, lending the track a different tone than much of the group’s work. He’d go on to craft stronger material, but as an early glimpse of his solo potential, Because lays a solid framework.
