Man In Love (from New Challenge – 2013)
One of Infinite’s most joyous, upbeat explosions of pop, Man In Love doesn’t always receive the accolades it deserves. In fact, when it was first released, its insistent buoyancy seemed too fizzy and bright to have any real staying power. But here we are — four and a half years later — and it’s one of the Infinite tracks I return to most often. Sweetune doesn’t always go all out bubblegum like this, but from the electronic drum fills that open the song to its enormous sugar-rush chorus, they are not holding back. Infinite is the perfect match for this sound, imbuing Man In Love with so much effortless charm that even its more saccharine moments become impossible to resist. And then there’s that immense middle eight build right before the final hook, which easily ranks among the group’s finest moments.
