Inception (from Destiny – 2013)
With a title like Inception, you might expect something truly mind-bending. The song doesn’t go that far, but it is one of the most unique entries in Infinite’s catalog. Driven by a slinky synth loop and mid-tempo groove, the track takes a far more R&B-influenced approach than the group’s past work. The guys are up for the challenge, imbuing their performance with a smooth sense of vocal fluidity that effortlessly segues from bursts of power to more restrained hints of falsetto. 2013 was a year of transition for Infinite, and Inception feels like a real turning point and testimony to the group’s ability to tackle more mature sounds and concepts.

This song has rocketed up my list as the new favorite Infinite B-side, dethroning “Air”. That siren sound! That clap in the beat! That incredible melody!
The synths that kick off the chorus are so euphoric. I can only describe it as a sparkling, glittery explosion.
