K-Pop A-Z: Infinite – After Dark

One song. Every day. Alphabetical order.

After Dark (from Air – 2017)

Driven by a funk-infused bass guitar, After Dark almost feels more like something a group like Shinee would release. On the whole, it’s more rhythmic than a lot of Infinite’s music, but the song never quite reaches its full potential. Catchy as it is, the chorus is stuck in one repetitive gear and never gives the guys the opportunity to unleash the kind of vocal bombast they excel at. Japanese releases provide the perfect setting to explore new sounds, but I wish that After Dark exploded into something truly extraordinary.
