Waiting For The Moment (from Air – 2017)
Though I’m sure it was not designed as such, Waiting For The Moment has become Infinite’s swan song as a seven-member group. As such, its sound and message are fitting. The group hasn’t recorded all that many original Japanese ballads, but they display a mastery of the popular genre here. Waiting For The Moment is all chest-beating vocal bombast and string-laden production, and its cinematic style is almost enough to cover up the fact that it’s a pretty generic song. Most of Infinite’s ballads have a specific charm that is missing here. The track could have been recorded by almost any group with similar results. This doesn’t make it an unwelcome addition to their discography, but it’s not all that vital either.
