Infinite’s long-awaited comeback resulted in the title track Tell Me, which divided opinion on this site and others. It’s taken from the group’s third full-length album, Top Seed, and kicks off a string of ten other newly released songs. Just like with 2016’s Infinite Only, I’m here to offer my thoughts on every single one of them. BEGIN AGAIN
The anthemic Begin Again is the perfect song to close the album, and would have been the perfect opening salvo as well. Woollim missed the boat by not giving this the pre-release treatment with accompanying music video, as its sound and message really capitalizes on the group’s current status. There are some minor tropical elements at play here, but not enough to make the song feel overly trendy. Instead, we’re treated to a rousing melody that climaxes in one of the album’s strongest choruses. I particularly love that mirrored post-chorus hook, which takes an unexpected progression that lends the track real punch. The arrangement continues to expand as we enter the second verse, which unfolds with almost gospel-like ferver. If anything, Begin Again is just a bit too short. I would have loved to see it absolutely explode during its final moments.
