Monster Time (from Telemonster OST – 2015)
One of the more idiosyncratic entries in Infinite’s discography, Monster Time was recorded for the soundtrack of an animated kid’s show. That explains some of the bizarre lyrics. But as the group matures in sound and image, it’s refreshing to hear them return to this classic k-pop sound. The hard-hitting, staccato chorus is particularly effective, especially as Woohyun and Sungkyu take over for their reliably dramatic refrain. The hip-hop breakdown is less thrilling, but this is an anything-goes kind of production, allowing the guys to experiment beyond the confines of a traditional album. It’s also the perfect addition to a k-pop Halloween playlist.

~
This song has some of the stupidest lyrics I’ve ever come across (a lot of them are Monsters University references) and a very unnecessary trap breakdown, but it’s one of Infinite’s catchiest songs. It’s not ‘The Chaser’, but it’s lit.
