12:25 (Wish List) (from Winter Garden – 2015)

Unlike yesterday’s look at an f(x) holiday track, this write-up will be more favorable. 12.25 happens to be firmly ensconced on my own holiday playlist. I love its off-kilter sound, leveraging the infinite power of sleigh-bells to form the backbone of a brisk instrumental that seems constantly in flux. The melody is equally dynamic, riffing on a few familiar lines in between showy choruses where the girls offer an airy bed of harmonies as the beat kicks up to a deep house throb. It’s all very Christmassy while still managing to inject the experimental bent that f(x) built their name on.
