Every WJSN Single Ranked: From Worst to Best

Every WJSN Single Ranked - From Worst to BestI’ve listed my “top tens” for many artists, but it’s time to rummage through entire discographies and rank every single from worst to best. This feature will primarily tackle groups who have disbanded or gone on indefinite hiatus. It’s a way for me to re-evaluate my initial thoughts on their singles run. Don’t be surprised if the order has changed from past countdowns. These things are always in flux!

16. It’s a Good Time (ft. Mickey) (2018)

I mean, do we even include this? It creepily reinterprets Mickey Mouse as a Korean idol rapper and prominently interpolates the Mickey Mouse Club theme. It doesn’t exactly feel like WJSN canon!

15. Let Me In (2021)

Definitely one of the better Universe App tracks, but still inessential. (full review)

14. Catch Me (2016)

Before the group had really nailed down their sound, they released this uncharacteristic hip-hop track. It’s catchy, though! (full review)

13. Kiss Me (2017)

A stomping pop-rock track. It lacks edge, but it’s fun enough.(full review)

12. Butterfly (2020)

Its brisk segments are better than its slower diversions. Overall, this feels more like IZ*ONE than WJSN. (full review)

11. Happy (2017)

A brief diversion into early-Twice peppy pop. It’s not bad, but doesn’t fit the group as well as their signature sound. (full review)

10. Unnatural (2021)

I love the driving energy of the chorus, but still think the pitch is too high to compliment the song’s sleek construction. (full review)

9. MoMoMo (2016)

They really nailed the celestial, spacey sound from their very first song. This has been a huge grower over the years. (full review)

8. La La Love (2019)

A little slow to get started, but once it blossoms this song is unstoppable. (full review)

7. Dreams Come True (2018)

Sleek, sci-fi pop with a great chorus. (full review)

6. I Wish (2017)

Its colorful, Lisa Frank-esque music video says it all. This is sunshine in a bottle. (full review)

5. Secret (2016)

One of those songs I criminally underrated early on in this blog. It’s such an iconic moment for them. (full review)

4. Save Me, Save You (2018)

Perhaps the most refined version of WJSN’s signature sound? The stomping hook is a discography highlight. (full review)

3. Last Sequence (2022)

A thumping dance track that crystallized the group’s sophisticated style. (full review)

2. Boogie Up (2019)

It may be a sidestep from their established sound, but this buoyant summer highlight has stood the test of time. An instant mood-lifter! (full review)

1. As You Wish (2019)

The most anthemic of the group’s title tracks, As You Wish bottled every aspect of their appeal into three minutes of heightened pop catharsis. (full review)

  1. What a group.. an amazing, unique distinct sound and barely any misses. If I had to choose a favourite, maybe Dreams Come True or Secret, but Save Me, Save You & La La Love would be close. One of the kpop greats imo

  2. Secret and Save Me, Save You still hit so good now 😭 definitely my two top title tracks, maybe Boogie Up, Last Sequence, and Unnatural rounding out a Top 5.

Please Starship if you’re reading this give us a WJSN comeback we need them back 😔

  4. Save Me Save Me You is my #1 favorite kpop gg song of all time tbh. It’s just so magical in every sense of the word. We NEED a comeback. :/

  5. By the way, I think the WJSN offshoots should be included – WJSN The Black & WJSN Chocome. It’s criminal in particular that Easy isn’t here, because it just might be their best tune, certainly top 3 (for me at least 🙂

  6. Very off-topic but what are your thoughts on Zara Larsson’s new album “Venus” which came out last Friday?

And I know you mentioned your thoughts on Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em” on Twitter so I want to know your thoughts on her other new song “16 Carriages”. Beyonce doing country is very unexpected for me haha. I can’t wait for her new album though.

    • Haven’t made it through Zara’s album yet. Apart from a song or two, the first half felt pretty flat and generic to me.

I need to listen to the Beyonce songs again. On first listen, I thought they were both pretty but neither bowled me over. I think they’ll work better in the context of a full album.

  7. we will NOT tolerate It’s a Good Time slander (glad someone remembered its existence tho) when the REAL villain (terrible ass Kiss Me) is right there

  8. As You Wish is also my favorite song by them (and probably one of my favorite gg songs ever), the ending from 3:06 on feels like you’re ascending straight to heaven. Their other songs (with the exception of Easy by WJSN The Black) haven’t resonated as much with me, but I feel like they’re the complete, classy package.

  9. As you Wish is truly an anthem. It just gets better and better with time. I always feel bright songs have a harder time aging well for me – this one though still has that charm even now!

  10. My favourite fact about WJSN’s music is that the dude behind Mickey Mouse from It’s A Good Time is Serim from Cravity lol.

I personally think As You Wish is a tad overrated but other than that this is a list I largely agree with 🙂

  11. Nick, thanks for this intriguing ranking of every WJSN single! It’s fascinating to see how opinions can change over time, especially with groups evolving their sound. While some tracks like “Happy” and “Butterfly” seem like departures, others like “Save Me, Save You” and “Last Sequence” capture WJSN’s essence beautifully. And of course, “As You Wish” takes the crown as the ultimate anthemic hit!

  12. I remember when they debuted, I was meh on MoMoMo and strongly disliked Catch Me, so they fell off my radar for years. Then I heard Unnatural when it came out and was floored by how much I loved it. Went back and listened to all their stuff and was kicking myself for writing them off. Thanks WJSN for teaching me not to ignore groups entirely just because I don’t like one or two of their singles! Last Sequence and Easy from their sub-unit are now playlist staples for me!

  13. “Indefinite hiatus” 😭 Kiss Me is too high and It’s a Good Time is too low. Save Me Save You and Secret are never overplayed, and I’m happy that As You Wish earned them public recognition. I do wish their title tracks would return to their spacey synth sound, but their b-sides still continuously deliver this!
