If there’s anything I’ve learned from covering pop music for over a decade, it’s that songwriters and collaborators are just as important as the artists themselves. Though they often work behind the scenes, this feature is a chance to shine the light on some of K-pop’s most innovative and accomplished producers and composers.
FULL8LOOM
Years active: 2016-present (though individual members were active earlier)
Associated Acts: WJSN, Astro, Weki Meki, Kep1er, Golden Child
Their sound: Sweeping, dense arrangements, often with symphonic influence. Big pop choruses and brisk tempos.
Why you should love them: Honestly, I thought I’d already featured Full8loom on the blog! I turns out I’d only written about “Glory Face,” who is one member of the team. Full8loom delivers a variety of sounds, but their output is almost always high quality. They’re one of the most consistent teams working in K-pop (and J-pop!) today. You know you’re going to get big, dramatic production and melodies that stick. And if you look back at their history, members of Full8loom had their hands in many K-pop classics.

To me, Full8Loom means the soft synth-y sound that never really took over any subset of K-Pop, but has slowly been growing for a while, peaking with IZ*ONE. To me, they still are a rising production team, with their best songs yet ahead of them.

Here’s their korean wiki entry, which is where I base off the information that I am about to comment here.
For the longest time, I thought the closer for BLOOM*IZ – Open Your Eyes – was a sole Full8loom production. Turns out, this track got only one of their members to contribute (yuka) and some other producers collabed for this track. Doesn’t take away the greatness of this song; I just figured they’d be the masterminds behind this brilliant song.
Let me tell you some gems I love from these guys.
The three-song set from SKZ aka Rock (2018), Boxer (2019) and Pacemaker (2020). The last song is one of my fave SKZ tracks of all time. GOT7’s Lullaby is also one of the idol group’s best track, since it distills their house genre phase pretty nicely (and it connected with the GP as well). The only actual IZ*ONE song they made is the debut single of UNIVERSE aka D-D-Dance. A slight deviation imo to how usual IZ*ONE is, but it’s a treat in every listen. Eunbi’s Magnetic is a b-side from her Color mini album, and it twists the moombathon(?) genre to something more splendid & unique. Of course, I can’t forget my personal 2022 summer song – Kep1er’s Up! Sunshine in a bottle.
Some songs that I just noticed after skimming again through the wiki.
Momoland’s Freeze is composed by Jinri. I have paid attention to MMLD songs from debut so this comes as a surprise. DIA’s Can’t Stop (you can search for its post here and you’d see me) is composed from the team. Produce concept songs, notably I AM from the 2018 season, and ones from the Japan seasons.

I would describe Full8loom’s prominent sound feature as simply as this:
“percussions and synths that sound like bouncing crystals”.
Almost in every song that they produced, everything felt so pristine and crystal-like, and they were all bouncing one ear to another. Considering how bustly they were usually, I was expecting to be overstimulated, but… they just weren’t?
