If there’s anything I’ve learned from covering pop music for over a decade, it’s that songwriters and collaborators are just as important as the artists themselves. Though they often work behind the scenes, this feature is a chance to shine the light on some of k-pop’s most innovative and accomplished producers and composers.
Glory Face
Years active: 2012-present
Associated Acts: Astro, Romeo, Turbo, Sistar, Cosmic Girls, Weki Meki, F.Cuz
Their sound: Ebullient pop music, stuffed with bright, sing-along hooks that often incorporate retro touches. Drawing influence from genres as diverse as funk and power pop, they have a glossy, synth-infused sound that is hard to resist.
Why you should love them: Though Glory Face has been crafting music for k-pop artists since 2012, I’d still consider them an up-and-coming production team. 2017 has seen them paired with a handful of rookie artists to tremendous effect. They have a natural sense of classic pop melody that supplies these groups with reliably catchy material. Most recently, their polished sound has helped cement the irresistibly upbeat style of acts like Astro and Cosmic Girls.
