SUMMER OF K-POP: Junho (2PM) – So Good

There are few things I enjoy more than a great summertime song. They’re bright, they’re exciting, and they remind me of my favorite time of the year.

There’s no telling what this summer in K-pop will bring, but over the next few weeks I’ll be flashing back each day, showcasing a highlight from past summers. The rules are simple: I fire up my carefully compiled “K-pop summer” playlist, hit ‘shuffle,’ and if the song that pops up hasn’t already been featured on the site, it gets a post and mini-review of its own.

So, get ready for a summer of K-pop on The Bias List!

Junho – So Good (2015)

On the whole, Junho has fashioned my favorite solo career of the 2PM members. Like most of his bandmates, he’s been much more active in Japan than Korea, and So Good is actually a Korean recording of a previous J-pop track. In either language, it’s an utterly addictive slice of synth-heavy dance pop, filled with sticky rhythm guitar, exciting electro instrumental touches, and even a touch of what sounds like high-pitched cowbell. It’s not quite enough to compete with 2017’s Ice Cream (my Junho summer track of choice), but So Good still lives up to its optimistic title.

  1. lol For a moment I thought my computer translated the site and you were doing a special about June (translates to Junho in portuguese)

But i’m glad you covered! I appreciate Junho’s energy in his tracks and I’m glad he was featured!

  2. I got all excited to see a review for Junho! 💛
He is the one who got me into K-Pop and I still love his songs or rather most songs grow an me even more after some time. So Good is a great song, but I also prefer Ice Cream. Ice Cream just has all the happy and light hearted energy a summer song needs.

Btw I love this new category and I’m looking forward to your other summer songs!
