There are few things I enjoy more than a great summertime song. They’re bright, they’re exciting, and they remind me of my favorite time of the year.
There’s no telling what this summer in K-pop will bring, but over the next few weeks I’ll be flashing back each day, showcasing a highlight from past summers. The rules are simple: I fire up my carefully compiled “K-pop summer” playlist, hit ‘shuffle,’ and if the song that pops up hasn’t already been featured on the site, it gets a post and mini-review of its own.
So, get ready for a summer of K-pop on The Bias List!

Beast – Dance With U (2014)
Dance With U was never promoted as a single, but I always thought it would have made a great one. Of course, it was competing with the magnificent Good Luck on the same album, so I understand Cube Entertainment’s choice. Still, Dance With U is an excellent summer release, powered by a bright electro squiggle and upbeat rhythm. I particularly enjoy the pre-chorus, which generates energy without opting for the standard EDM build. The chorus itself is smooth and catchy, followed by a hip-hop hook that offers a sense of texture. As usual, Yoseob’s killer vocals steal the show, fueling the chorus with undeniable polish.

I completely forgot about this song. How? I remember being obsessed with it. But then the app changed and somehow majority of Beast’s songs went out of my playlist.
Honestly when it comes to summer songs, the 2nd gen dominates it..like there are only a few recent songs(from 2016 to 2020)which comes to my mind. And my playlist is a proof.
Recently I have been listening to 1996 – 2015 songs and not to sound like an old person, but those songs hit differently. Although the newer groups have their own charms but that time just brings a different kind of jubilation.

You’ve been rolling out some of my favorite 2nd gen hidden gems in your last couple of posts lol I always appreciate when you spotlight my favorite groups like Beast, 2pm and b1a4
This is my all time favorite Beast album (admittedly neck and neck with Midnight Sun), which is saying a lot. I don’t think there’s a weak track on the album, and Dance with u is one of the strongest tracks
