There are few things I enjoy more than a great summertime song. They’re bright, they’re exciting, and they remind me of my favorite time of the year.
There’s no telling what this summer in K-pop will bring, but over the next few weeks I’ll be flashing back each day, showcasing a highlight from past summers. The rules are simple: I fire up my carefully compiled “K-pop summer” playlist, hit ‘shuffle,’ and if the song that pops up hasn’t already been featured on the site, it gets a post and mini-review of its own.
So, get ready for a summer of K-pop on The Bias List!

NCT Dream – Walk You Home (2017)
Before they replicated the rest of NCT’s edgy, experimental mold, Dream delivered a 2017 mini album full of lighthearted summer tracks. Walk You Home is not particularly flashy, but its gentle acoustic guitar loop offers a dose of sunshine, spotlighting the group’s amiable vocals in the process. Haechan takes center stage in this regard, though the arrangement has an engaging sense of unity. It’s like a front porch singalong – even more so as a secondary hook takes hold during the song’s final third. Walk You Home is sweet and mild, but that’s not a bad thing. I mean, everyone needs a break from the big dance tracks of the season, right?

I skip none of the songs on this album, it’s unbelievably good… they all scream summer too! All of them would have been great picks for this feature. I really wish they would go back to this sound 😦
