There are few things I enjoy more than a great summertime song. They’re bright, they’re exciting, and they remind me of my favorite time of the year.
There’s no telling what this summer in K-pop will bring, but over the next few weeks I’ll be flashing back each day, showcasing a highlight from past summers. The rules are simple: I fire up my carefully compiled “K-pop summer” playlist, hit ‘shuffle,’ and if the song that pops up hasn’t already been featured on the site, it gets a post and mini-review of its own.
So, get ready for a summer of K-pop on The Bias List!

Seventeen – Our Dawn Is Hotter Than Day (2018)
Seventeen promoted this alongside Oh My, and for good reason. Though it’s not one of their more uptempo offerings, Our Dawn Is Hotter Than Day has a real satisfying heft to it. It feels perfectly suited to soundtrack those muggy summer nights. The tempo is a bit drowsy, but the punchy melody provides an appealing contrast. I especially love the chanted pre-chorus, which stands as Day’s catchiest moment by a mile. I’m not even too mad at the persistent trap influences. They’re spread evenly throughout the track, and don’t upend the momentum built by the melody.

I love this song! Isn’t it “Our Dawn is Hotter Than Day,” though? Regardless of the exact title, Seventeen’s discography is full of summer gems!

Yes, I fixed that right after publishing, but your browser may be stuck on an older cache. I always get this title mixed up!

Ah, okay. I figured you might’ve already fixed it, but just making sure! Anyways, I eagerly anticipate your pick for the buried treasure from the GFriend album; I listened to it earlier and there are a lot of great contenders!
