There are few things I enjoy more than a great summertime song. They’re bright, they’re exciting, and they remind me of my favorite time of the year.
There’s no telling what this summer in K-pop will bring, but over the next few weeks I’ll be flashing back each day, showcasing a highlight from past summers. The rules are simple: I fire up my carefully compiled “K-pop summer” playlist, hit ‘shuffle,’ and if the song that pops up hasn’t already been featured on the site, it gets a post and mini-review of its own.
So, get ready for a summer of K-pop on The Bias List!

2NE1 – Falling In Love (2013)
As the first release in 2NE1’s summer of digital singles, Falling In Love took elements of reggae and fused them to a more standard YG Entertainment electronic hip-hop arrangement. This had potential to be a real headache, and there are parts of the track that are too bratty for their own good. But, I was obsessed with it that summer, and it still holds up seven years later. In large part, this is due to the girls’ unflagging charisma, which adds bite to the otherwise odd “touch me over here, touch me over there” hook. Falling In Love is all attitude, but it’s hard to resist.

I was wondering if I’d see this song in the series! I love it so much. Even if I’m like 80% sure it’s only because this was my first 2NE1 comeback, lol.
