There are few things I enjoy more than a great summertime song. They’re bright, they’re exciting, and they remind me of my favorite time of the year.
There’s no telling what this summer in K-pop will bring, but over the next few weeks I’ll be flashing back each day, showcasing a highlight from past summers. The rules are simple: I fire up my carefully compiled “K-pop summer” playlist, hit ‘shuffle,’ and if the song that pops up hasn’t already been featured on the site, it gets a post and mini-review of its own.
So, get ready for a summer of K-pop on The Bias List!

B1A4 – Kimiiro (Your Color) (2017)
I’m actually surprised that no song from B1A4’s seminal summer album Solo Day has come up on my shuffle yet, but Your Color is the next best thing. Released as part of their 2017 Japanese album 4, the song is a funky burst of throwback pop with a supremely catchy chorus. Driven by percussive piano and rhythm guitar, the song has a timeless appeal, perfectly matched with B1A4’s effusive vocals. The brassy undertones suit summer well, but it’s the boundless energy of the melody that really earns this a place on any vacation playlist.
