There are few things I enjoy more than a great summertime song. They’re bright, they’re exciting, and they remind me of my favorite time of the year.
There’s no telling what this summer in K-pop will bring, but over the next few weeks I’ll be flashing back each day, showcasing a highlight from past summers. The rules are simple: I fire up my carefully compiled “K-pop summer” playlist, hit ‘shuffle,’ and if the song that pops up hasn’t already been featured on the site, it gets a post and mini-review of its own.
So, get ready for a summer of K-pop on The Bias List!

Girls’ Generation-TTS – Stay (2014)
I’ve always felt that Stay would have made a dynamite single. It’s not far from the 80’s synth-driven dance music that made Wonder Girls’ Reboot such a thrill. This kind of breezy, roller-rink pop suits summer perfectly, offering a refreshing melody and brisk instrumental. It’s a relentlessly sunny track – almost a preview of what the full group would deliver on Holiday three years later. Here, TTS’s trio of powerful vocals buttress each other with layers of airy tones that forge an awesome sound. By the time we hit the climactic key change, resistance is futile.
