The second of iKON’s singles to be released on Christmas Eve (and presumably their last for awhile), What’s Wrong follows another classic YG template of anthemic rap-rock. This has brought us one of my favorite kpop songs of all time in G-Dragon’s Crooked, and was most recently heard in Bigbang’s Sober from earlier in the summer. It’s a genre that YG artists pull off very well and is a personal favorite of mine. I’m not sure that What’s Wrong is as strong as either of those tracks when it comes down to it, but it’s a nice opportunity for some of iKON’s less focused-on members to shine. Junhoe, who boasts an incredible rock voice and lent so much heft to Apology, really shines here (as expected). The chorus is by far the strongest aspect, even though the song pulls a bit of a fake-out at the beginning when you assume the intro section is the actual hook. Of the two singles, Dumb & Dumber is definitely flashier and more in your face, but What’s Wrong is another solid entry in their discography and will most likely end up having greater longevity. They’re still a group looking for their individual sound, and this is another step in the right direction.

4/10
It should be a B-side of Ikon’s Dumb & Dumber. Unfortunate confusion but disappointed rap-rock.
