Top Three K-Pop Songs of September 2017

Monthly Round-UpAt the end of each month, I look back at my three favorite title tracks by k-pop artists. I take my own ratings into account, but there’s a bit of wiggle room as certain songs tend to grow or fade.

September 2017 Overall Thoughts

September is oftentimes underwhelming, since it marks the point in the year where we go from a steady stream of summer releases to a more sporadic schedule. Last year’s September was particularly forgettable. But even if these past few weeks have been spotty when it comes to new music, a handful of big names made sure that September 2017 felt notable. As far as my top three goes, it was definitely a month devoted to boy groups. All three songs were also ones that seemed to polarize opinion among fans. Special shout-out to iKON‘s Bobby, whose addictive I Love You was lodged in my top three until a late-month comeback kicked him back into the honorable mentions.

    • Really? Apart from DNA, they’ve made my top three every time they’ve had a major Korean comeback. That’s more than almost any other group.

However, I will agree that my enthusiasm for their music has waned a bit over the past year. 2015/16 was such a strong period for them, so my expectations are very high.
