Top Three K-Pop Songs of June 2017

Monthly Round-UpAt the end of each month, I look back at my three favorite title tracks by k-pop artists. I take my own ratings into account, but there’s a bit of wiggle room as certain songs tend to grow or fade.

June 2017 Overall Thoughts

Of the 18 months I’ve been running this site, June was the strangest of them all. I’m naturally biased towards the music released by boy groups, yet this is the first time my top three is completely devoid of them. There aren’t even many in my honorable mentions… just one lone rookie. My top-rated songs of June happened to be Japanese releases from k-pop acts, making them ineligible for my top three. It’s also the very first time a ballad has taken my top spot. But more than anything, June was a month of growers. Though they didn’t quite make it onto my list, that atonal NCT 127 song really did grow on me. Ditto for Cosmic Girls, who seem to fall into this category more often than not. Unfortunately, my cumulative score is lower than it’s been since January, and slightly lower than last June. July is typically a strong month for k-pop. I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
