Top Three K-Pop Songs of June 2016

Monthly Round-UpAt the end of each month, I’ll look back at my three favorite title tracks by k-pop artists. Unlike my end-of-year countdowns, jpop and Japanese releases by kpop artists are ineligible, though I will give the great ones a spotlight. For my top three tracks, I’ll take my own ratings into account, but there is a bit of wiggle room as songs tend to grow or fade. Most important of all, I want to give my readers a chance to vote on their favorites! (poll at bottom)

June 2016 Overall Thoughts

We’re a tenth of a point up from May, but I’m still waiting for the month that bumps my cumulative rating up to 8 or higher. June was reasonably strong, although the best releases were all stacked at the beginning of the month. In fact, my top three songs all came out within days of each other! It was also an EXO comeback period, and whenever a group that huge returns there tends to be a relatively slow week or two immediately after (most likely to avoid being crushed in their wake). Following this, we had an assault of cutesy tracks at June’s end, which sadly didn’t work out quite as well as it should have. But summer’s in full swing now, and July is usually a total highlight in the kpop world.
