Since the start of The Bias List in January 2016, I’ve always looked back at my three favorite title tracks by K-pop artists each month. Now, it’s time to look even further into the past, one month at a time. And, yes, the top three rankings count toward The Bias List’s personal artist scorecard!
December 2014 Overall Thoughts
As with most Decembers, 2014’s final month wasn’t much to write home about. Because of this, I’m going to make this the first of two “Looking Back” features posted today. Both will be for months that have a solid standout or two, but are largely barren of notable releases.
For me, December was all about back-to-back Infinite. The month kicked off with the debut of sub-unit Infinite F and their jubilant Heartthrob, and ended with the excellent Japanese release Dilemma. Happy Holidays, indeed!
Apart from that, December saw the debut of soloist Shannon (with a song I don’t particularly care for) and the long-awaited return of rapper Masta Wu (with another song I don’t particularly care for). BTOB released a very solid winter mini-album and agencies gave us their usual celebratory fare. Established hip-hop duo Untouchable delivered a satisfying funk track with guest vocals from the always-great Babylon, and girl group Wa$$up came back with an underrated single.
Still, my number one pick of the month will probably not surprise anyone. It’s a very fun song!
