Since the start of The Bias List in January 2016, I’ve always looked back at my three favorite title tracks by K-pop artists each month. Now, it’s time to look even further into the past, one month at a time. And, yes, the top three rankings count toward The Bias List’s personal artist scorecard!
March 2014 Overall Thoughts
When it comes to choosing my top three songs, March had plenty to offer. Some months have three clear standouts and a bunch of honorable mentions that don’t come close to challenging them. This month has several honorable mentions that could easily vault into the top three.
One of those is Apink’s classic hit Mr. Chu. I’m sure there are more than a few readers who would rank this number one for the month, and that’s a hard choice to argue with. March also gave us the Woohyun/Key project duo Toheart. Looking back, I can’t believe that this album actually happened. What a cool moment for K-pop! And, Delicious is just as enjoyable and satisfying as its title suggests.
Elsewhere, we have a couple of underrated groups whose songs sound as if they were created by some of the era’s biggest producers – even though they weren’t. SoReal’s My Heart Says could easily have been a Sweetune track, while Scarlet’s Do Better does its best Brave Brothers impersonation. Both are great fun.
Then, we’ve got Super Junior-M’s awesome Swing, which was released in both Mandarin and Korean, and 100%’s Beat. Each harnesses a big dance-pop sound and great chorus. And speaking of choruses, short-lived duo Wings delivered a whammy with Hair Short (the first of two prominent 2014 singles about girls cutting their hair).
Standing atop this fantastic pack are three excellent comebacks – two of which are quite well-known and one that is a little under-the-radar.

F.cuz were one of those K-pop groups who were amazingly consistent with their music , jumping from strength to strength and One Love is definitely their masterpiece.
Honestly , I wish they were more popular , they were too good to not be noticed…

WINGS is one of those groups I just wish we got so much more from. Hair Short especially is a cinematic masterpiece

That FCuz song is so good, the Kville youtuber person uses it on the opening music. If you were ever wondering. (Also, another song they use is Na Hago Nolja by Cross Gene).
Also worth noting that Feb-March 2014 was My Love From Another Star, so Kim Soo Hyun graced us with a few OST to prove that he really is a triple threat.

One Complaint
Park Hyo Shin “Wildfllower” was also released March 2014, so honestly for me, it may just have to bump everything down one because it is the classic song that quite literally everyone has covered. If your stan hasn’t attempted it live on national television, then she or he is not a Serious Singer. Even I know all the words, in Korean. Practice holding the big note regularly, just because. I mean, you do, don’t you?
So for me, Wildflower is #1, even if it means that My Favorite Orange Caramel Ever is knocked down a peg.

I did not know about F.Cuz or One Love but recognised it from the Kville intro! Probably a crime of severe ignorance on my part, but hey, better late than never?

You are not alone. It took me a few years to figure it out too. Kville people have good taste. A recent sample for those who don’t know what we are talking about it here – they use the same beginning songs every week.

This is kinda random but I was reading some rude comments from some of your previous posts and I would just like to thank you for being such a kind-hearted and respectful person. Even with my emails, you take time to actually read them and provide great feedback. I wish the world was full of people like you. So yeah thanks for being so cool, Nick.

That’s very kind of you to say!
You can’t let the few nasty commenters get you down, right?
