Since the start of The Bias List in January 2016, I’ve always looked back at my three favorite title tracks by K-pop artists each month. Now, it’s time to look even further into the past, one month at a time. And, yes, the top three rankings count toward The Bias List’s personal artist scorecard!
March 2013 Overall Thoughts
Out of curiosity, I took a look at my end-of-year data and discovered that, over the past few years, March was the month that delivered the most songs in my eventual top ten. This shocked me, because I never really think about March as a heavy-hitter month. But as the gateway to the spring season, I guess it makes sense.
March of 2013 didn’t deliver as many classics as some of the year’s other months, but it did give us a few incredible highlights. This was an era of super producers. By the end of March, Brave Brothers had already produced six title tracks. Sweetune had produced five. This could be a bad thing. After all, musical diversity is always better than monotony. But, I just happen to love both producers, and they gave 2013 a real iconic sound.
In particular, my love for Sweetune heavily influenced two of my top three picks. But, there are a couple of honorable mentions that deserve extra praise. Lee Hi’s Rose remains as stunning today as it was back then, and U-KISS’s Standing Still is one of their most underrated tracks.
March also saw the debut of girl group Ladies’ Code, as well as sub-unit ZE:A Five (with a Brave Brothers track, of course!). Both are great songs.
Honorable Mentions
D-Unit – Face To Face (video)
Double A (AA) – Come Back (video)
Ladies’ Code – Bad Girl (video)
Lee Hi – It’s Over / Rose (video / video)
RaNia – Just Go (video)
U-KISS – Standing Still (video)
ZE:A Five – The Day We Broke Up (video)
I saw in your Top 10 K-pop Songs of all time that 3 September songs made it!
Also , Really want to say this , If Golden Child release their Chaser in 2021 , I hope it’s either in July or March! The Chaser was too good for May in my opinion , Something like 2012’s June and March , 2011’s September , 2014’s July could’ve made it’s win more honorable , So that’s why I want Golden Child to release their chaser in A strong March or July in 2021!
So my Goldenness bias out of the way , Let me put my Sweetune bias , I didn’t even know Art of Seduction was made by Sweetune (Probably because I never listened to it)
This was my first time listening so When I opened the mv surely enough the song sounded like Something sweetune made , So this means I can easily recognize their signature style! Proud of Myself!
Now let’s look at my Top 3:
3. U Kiss Standing Still
2. Girl’ s Day Expect
1. Infinite Man In Love
I know what’s entering my playlist today! I am making up for lost time for not hearing Art of Seduction

They did a few songs for him. Life, Let It Go, Weak Child. That first one is particularly good!

Expectation is an A-class BANGER. And I lose my mind every time I see THAT choreography. Girl’s Day invented suspenders, just a fact.

Now you’ve got me wanting to see an Expectation/Very Nice suspender battle royale!

Infinite & Girl’s Day – my two favourite groups back to back. Expectation and Man in Love are songs I can never get tired of. 🙂
Can’t believe I’m seeing AA being mentioned somewhere in 2020 lol. I used to love So Crazy and Come Back.

Of course it’s the Infinite song that gets the top honors.
Not that I’m objecting, mind, I mean it is my second favorite single after Last Romeo…

It wouldn’t be The Bias List if peak-era Infinite didn’t take top honors!

I’ve got the Heo Young Sang “How to Get Girls” too, I believe I found this a few months ago through this blog, one of Nick’s top 10 by ___ posts.
Orange Caramel had their Japanese debut with Jpop version of Lipstick and Bangkok City, among other songs.
Also Lee HI.
Also Infinite the group’s version of 60 seconds is dated to March 2013 because the album “New Challenge was released this month.
And then I’ve got this tiny group called EvoL who released “Get Up” this month. Like other small tiny girl group releases, this one is an occasional guilty pleasure. Its not too aegyo too. I li li like i-it, I li li like i-it.

EvoL were definitely on the outskirts. I considered including them, but for me the song just doesn’t really go anywhere.

Don’t feel guilty, I think Get Up is brilliant in its own way and a piece of K-pop perfection.

March 2013 certainly had more highlights than the other months and all the songs you listed are flawless. The only song that’s missing here is EvoL’s Get Up.
