Since the start of The Bias List in January 2016, I’ve always looked back at my three favorite title tracks by K-pop artists each month. Now, it’s time to look even further into the past, one month at a time. And, yes, the top three rankings count toward The Bias List’s personal artist scorecard!
December 2010 Overall Thoughts
We’ve quickly reached the end of 2010, and now I might have to reevaluate how I’m going to structure these posts going forward because releases were a lot fewer and far between before 2010…
As far as this year goes, it ended on a high (or maybe a “high high”?). Of course, I’m referencing GD & TOP here. The duo released their first album together on Christmas Eve, which would go on to spawn several more singles in 2011. Neither of their December releases made my top three, but that’s only because the competition was so fierce. I love both High High and Oh Yeah (though I guess the latter mv was technically a Japanese release).
Like several other months in 2010, December was all about the ladies. Female-fronted tracks make up nearly all my picks this time, ranging from festive cheer (After School) to dancefloor-ready electropop (2NE1, Seo In Young).
I debated whether to count TVXQ’s Athena as a single, since it’s an OST release with an OST music video. But, the song’s so good that I thought it deserved a spot on my countdown. Plus, it’s a great teaser for what would soon emerge from the newly reconfigured duo in 2011.
Rounding out my top three are gargantuan singles from IU and T-ara – both classics in their own right. December is usually light on memorable comebacks, but 2010 was a welcome exception.
Honorable Mentions
After School – Love Love Love (video)
GD & TOP – High High / Oh Yeah (ft. Park Bom) (video / video)
Seo In Young – Into The Rhythm (video)
Sistar – How Dare You (video)
T-ara – YaYaYa (video — oof, that mv…)
2NE1 – Don’t Stop The Music (video)
OMG! I miss listening to IU’s Good day! I think this song was played so much back then. I think IU was asked to sing this on every show she went on.

4. GD and TOP – High High

The Yayaya MV… should best be forgotten.

Wae Ireoni by T-ara is one of the earliest k-pop songs I really liked.

Athena is so massive.
Wae Ireoni is so cute. But my favorite parts are…Hwayoung’s parts…
Good Day! I prefer You&I but Good Day is legendary also. When will IU come back to this style? The music scene certainly lacks Christian horse girl music.
