Since the start of The Bias List in January 2016, I’ve always looked back at my three favorite title tracks by K-pop artists each month. Now, it’s time to look even further into the past, one month at a time. And, yes, the top three rankings count toward The Bias List’s personal artist scorecard!
December 2009 Overall Thoughts
Decembers are usually pretty barren when it comes to K-pop releases, and 2009’s December was especially so. As a completist, I must include this month. But, there’s really not much to say.
With only five releases making up my top three and honorable mentions, the quality control isn’t as strong as it usually is. I’m not sure any of my top three would retain their position in other months, but I guess that’s just the luck of the draw!
Park Jinyoung’s music is always a treat, and No Love No More is easily December’s most impactful release. While not my favorite JYP track, it’s still super enjoyable. Meanwhile, Super Junior followed up their epic Sorry Sorry with an “answer” version, which transformed the iconic track into a slow burn R&B jam.
So… who is Annyeongbada, you ask? And what is Falling Starlight? Well, just listen to the track. If you’ve watched any Korean variety over the past decade, you’ll no doubt recognize this iconic chorus. It’s become a trope of the genre, usually used to soundtrack a good-looking visual. Because of this, the song now comes across as novelty. But in a weak month, I definitely had to include it!
With 2009 finished, this will be my last “looking back” post for a while. For now, I’m going to turn my attention to revamping some of my outdated “top ten singles” posts. Stay tuned!

Sad to heard that this will be the last ‘looking back’ for a while. I usually don’t comment, but really enjoy discovering new songs and getting to know stuff prior to 2010 (the year I discovered K-Pop. Thanks for the work you put into it, every week…and I hope these lists will return soon.

This ELF says that she never got into the Sorry Sorry old school R&B edition. I know, I know, everyone brings it up to say holy cow wow about something. For me it is an interesting curiosity, as most of the time I hear vocal mimicry of old Boyz II Men. It doesn’t work for me as a stand alone song.
Eagerly awaiting the SuJu revamped top 10, or 15 for 15 years. Yassss.
