Lucky (from Growl – 2013)

When it comes down to it with a pop song, I look for good energy and a good melody above all else. Lucky is not one of EXO’s boundary-pushing tracks. In fact, it’s one of their most generic. But… that chorus! There’s immense power to be found in a dynamite chorus, and Lucky’s propulsive, synth-kissed refrain is the kind of thing I go gaga over. The song represents EXO’s one-and-only collaboration with well-known production team e.one, and their fairy dust can be heard all over the track. It pushes forward with an exultant, unbridled spirit, like some long-lost synthpop anthem from the 80’s. Could I really ask for more than that?
