Christmas Day (from Miracles In December – 2013)

It pains me to listen to Christmas Day this early in October. By their very nature, holiday songs like this thrive on nostalgia and tradition. Since its 2013 release, EXO’s Miracles In December has been the first album I play during the holidays, and that gives it a sense of sentimentality that’s hard to objectively rate. Bias is probably going to bump this a little higher than it deserves, but these kind of smooth r&b tracks throw me right back to a late-90’s sweet spot. The harmonies in the chorus are gorgeous, and I love the touches of organ sprinkled throughout the instrumental. This is comfort in the form of a pop song.
