K-Pop A-Z Review: EXO – My Turn To Cry

One song. Every day. Alphabetical order.

My Turn To Cry (from Miracles In December – 2013)

My Turn To Cry is tangentially related to the holidays by nature of the album it stems from, but at its heart the song is a typical EXO ballad, riding on sentiment and gorgeous vocal performances. Because of this, it’s probably the least interesting track on Miracles In December, and plays better in context of the album than on its own. The gentle acoustic guitar and harmony-rich vocal arrangement hits the right spot, incredibly calming to listen to. The chorus has an endearing sweetness to it, but never to the point of being overly saccharine. It’s a song that knows exactly what it’s doing, and it’s hard to find fault with that.

  1. It’s a straightforward R&B song that shines a spotlight on the vocals and harmonies. And damn, the harmonies are tight! I especially love the runs by D.O. as the song fades out..
