Run (from Overdose – 2014)
EXO songs often have a slightly experimental bent to them, so it’s always surprising when the group goes full-on pop. Run does not have a self-serious bone in its body. It’s the kind of anthemic track clearly designed with a concert environment mind, but also makes for great driving or workout music. Fueled by guitar distortion and pounding percussion, the song builds toward a simple chant-along chorus that cuts right to the feeling. This isn’t rocket science, but that’s okay. You can’t over-think a song like Run. It operates on pop instinct, urging anyone who might be listening to get those hands in the air.
