Tender Love (from Love Me Right – 2015)

When EXO’s Exodus was first released, I felt that it could have done with more upbeat album tracks. Thankfully, its repackage brought the slick funk of Tender Love. This is one of the group’s most successful forays into this genre, marrying their robust vocal arrangements with a nimble groove. The instrumental has a thrilling live band feel, injecting bursts of rhythm guitar, synth breaks and percussive keys. There are so many little musical treats to be mined from the track, which helps add a needed sense of diversity to the otherwise straightforward melody. You get the sense that a lot of love and care went into the production of this song.
