Girl x Friend (from Sing For You – 2015)

Looking at its title alone, you can probably guess that this is going to be one of EXO’s more lighthearted efforts. And as a special holiday release, that amiable energy is well-targeted. A hint of sleigh bells in the background gives the track festive appeal, though Girl x Friend is more straight-up mid-tempo r&b than winter-only affair. The song is smooth throughout, particularly as the instrumental fades at the end of each chorus to focus on the guys’ effortlessly pleasing vocals. The bridge wraps itself in warm harmonies, adding to the cheerful swing of the instrumental.
